The International Congress RECUWATT 2016, organized jointly by the Consorcio de Residuos del Maresme, the Consorci de Residuos del Vallés Oriental and the Consorcio de Residuos del Vallés Occidental, which has the support of the Catalan Waste Agency and Fundación Ambiental Ambiental, Will take place at Tecnocampus de Mataró on 27 and 28 October and has been established as a meeting point par excellence in the sustainable management of waste.
It has a unique program, which includes top quality content distributed in six thematic blocks; More than thirty institutional positions and speakers of the highest level, respond to the expectations of the sector.
Prior to this, a preliminary day will be held on the 26th, which will be used exclusively for local administrations and public service managers with the aim of seeking answers to the integrated management of waste in Spain.
Waste resources
On the 27th, the inauguration will take place, which will be carried out by the President of the MSU Consortium for the Treatment of Maresme and Mayor of Mataró, David Bote Paz, and will be accompanied by the President of the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia, Member of the Board Of Government of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, and Mayor of Pineda de Mar, Xavier Amor Martín, in addition to the President of the Catalan Association of Municipalities and Mayor of Premià de Mar, Miquel Buch i Moya, and the Conseller of the Departament Territori i Sostenibilitat of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Josep Rull i Andreu.
After the opening ceremony of the event, a unique conference will be held by Victor Küppers, “Reflect with humor”, followed by four thematic blocks of special interest.
In the first “Towards efficiency and sustainability of resources”, which will be moderated by the President of Honor of the Foundation for the Circular Economy, Jean Pierre Hannequart, will address the future challenges and objectives in waste management in a world of Scarce and expensive resources, leading to reflection and debate on the strategic role to be developed by the sector in a circular economy. This will include interventions by Antonis Mavropoulos, President International Solid Waste Association (ISWA); Gunther Wolf, DG Environment, European Commission; And Antonio Valero, General Director of the Center for Research on Energy Resources and Consumption (CIRCE) at the University of Zaragoza.
Under the name “The collective responsibility of waste management”, a second block will be opened which will highlight the role of education, communication, transparency and economic incentives. Moderated by Rafael Arjona, President of the National Association of Public Environmental Enterprises (ANEPMA), will participate in the same Stéphane Arditi, Product & Waste Policy Manager, European Environmental Bureau (European Federation of Ecological Organizations); Sandra Pina, Director Sustainable Brands Spain (Communication for Innovation and Sustainability); Michal Len, Director Rreuse (European Platform of Social Enterprises for Reuse, Repair and Recycling); And José Antonio Corraliza, Professor of Social Psychology and Methodology at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
After tasting a meal Km 0 “Try the new Recuwatt” will open the third block “Information systems and economic sustainability in waste management”, which will reflect on technology, efficiency and will expose the tools for strategic management Information, innovation and improvement of public services.

Day 28 will start with the “Call for papers”, a section where the best presentations of all the proposals received by the organizing committee of Recuwatt and selected for their innovative, disruptive and added value in the waste management.
